Social Committee notes the highlights of NYC’s project on new marriages in Oman

The Social Committee of the State Council was briefed on Monday in the presence of Hon.Dr. Hamed Sulaiman Salim Al Salmi, Head of the Committee and the honourable Committee members and General Secretariat staff, about the project “Development of an integrated framework for the rehabilitation of the new marriages", which the National Youth Commission(NYC) is studying. In this regard, the Committee hosted a number of officials from the National Youth Commission and the Sustainability Company, to address the project's objectives which included : Achieving family stability and the cohesion of the social fabric between families, through the application of certain measures such as pre-marital screening, and the definition of the provisions of the jurisprudence of the family, including the principles and rules of choice of husband or wife, rights and duties, skills of dialogue and resolution of marital problems. The Social Committee has also been briefed on a number of areas of study, including: the extent to which the Council has been informed about the programmes and courses for the rehabilitation of couples and programmes to reduce the effects of divorce in the Sultanate, development and promotion of existing programmes and legislations in the framework of regulating marriage issues and divorces in the Sultanate, and the ability of Omani society to apply regulatory and legislative measures regarding the organization of marriage in the Sultanate.
